When is the Hapalua – Hawaii’s Half Marathon?
Sunday, April 16, 2023, starting at 6:00 AM.
Where is the start?
The start-line is by the Duke Kahanamoku statue in Waikiki, on Kalakaua Avenue.
Where is the finish line?
The finish line is in Kapiolani Park, also on Kalakaua Avenue.
How do I enter the Hapalua?
Registration is online and open until April 6. Late entries will be accepted at the Expo. More info here.
Late Entry Registration: Late Registration is available at the Hapalua Expo at the Hawaii Convention Center on the following days:
- Friday, April 14, 10:00 AM – 8 PM
- Saturday, April 15, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Person to person transfers
A person to person transfer system is accessible through your members hub until March 31.
Click the “Entries” tab and scroll down to Transfers. Enter the name and email address of the person you want to transfer to. For a $30 fee, they will then take over your entry.
Qualifying Time
There are no qualifying times for the Hapalua and the event is open to both runners and walkers. The finish line remains open until the last person has completed the Hapalua.
How do I verify my entry?
Confirm your entry in your Members Hub. All registered participants have created a members hub account.
Can I get a refund or transfer to another year?
Entry fees are non-refundable. A person to person transfer system is accessible through your members hub until April 5.
Does the Hapalua accept Late Entries?
Yes. Late Entry Registration takes place at the Hapalua Expo at the Hawaii Convention Center,
How do I receive my Race Packet?
All race packets must be collected from packet pick up at the Hapalua Expo.
How can I track a runner or find individual results?
Will be available closer to race day and instructions will be in the Event Guide.
Is there a Bag Check?
Yes, there is a clothing only bag check area in the finisher village near the food court. Open from 4:00AM to 10:30AM. You can get the official clothing bag at packet pick up. Bags not picked up by 10:30AM will be donated to charity.
Is there a shuttle to the start?
Yes, free parking and shuttle service will run from 3:30 AM to 5:30 AM from Parking Lots A, B & C at the Kapiolani Community College.

Lot B & C – 4303 Diamond Head Road
When does the finish line close?
The Hapalua allows ALL participants to finish and everyone receives a finisher medal. There is no cut-off time!
Can I walk the course?
Yes, walkers are welcome.
Are there many hills on the course?
The course is mainly flat until mile 9 when the course climbs up and around Diamond Head. Click here for a course description and map.
What sports drink will be available?
Gatorade – Lemon Lime & Orange. There will be Honey Stinger Organic Energy Gels available on the course at MILE 9. This is a non-caffeinated gel.
Can I carry food and water?
Yes. There will also be aid stations located along the course serving water and sports drink and providing professional medical assistance.
Can I skate the course?
No. All participants must self-propel themselves without assistance.
Can I run with a baby stroller?
Yes. For safety reasons, we ask that you start toward the rear of the field with your stroller.
Can my dog run with me?
Sorry, no pets allowed, including but not limited to dogs and horses.
Can my friend run with me?
Those not officially entered and not wearing a race number are discouraged from being on the course.
Can I use earphones/headphones?
Yes
When do I get a t-shirt?
At the Hapalua Expo when you pick up your race packet. You will also get a Hapalua tote bag.
When do I get a Finisher Certificate?
You can download your digital finisher certificate from the results page a few days after the race.
