Getting to the Start
Getting to the Start
The start is on Kalakaua Avenue in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue.
The race will go north-west up Kalakaua Avenue, so it is best to approach the start from the direction of Kapiolani Park.
You will be assigned a start group based on your predicted finish time. Find your start group indicated by the flags on the start line that matches the color on your bib.
Coming from a Hotel
If you are staying in a hotel in the Waikiki area, we recommend you walk to the starting area. Most hotels will be within a 10 minute walk from Waikiki Beach.
Parking & Free Shuttle
A shuttle service will run from 3:30 AM to 5:30 AM from Parking Lots A, B, C &D at the Kapiolani Community College.
Lot A – Intersection of Makapuu Road & Kilauea Avenue.
Lot B & C – 4303 Diamond Head Road
Lot D – Kilauea Avenue & 18th Avenue.
Don’t wait for the last shuttle; there may not be room for you. This may cause you to be late for the start. Board the bus early. Non-runners will be accommodated on a space available basis. (There is no shuttle from the start line back to the parking area!)
Post race shuttles will run from 9:00 AM to approximately 11:00 AM leaving Kapiolani Park (at the bus stop located on Monsarrat Avenue west of the Waikiki Bandstand) to go back to the KCC parking lot.
Limited parking will be available at the Kapiolani Park lot in front of the Waikiki Shell and at the lot on the corner of Monsarrat Avenue and Paki Avenue. Parking in those lots are on a first come/first served basis and fills quickly. Have a plan B if you plan to park in the lot! Metered parking may also be available at the Honolulu Zoo parking lot. Car pooling is recommended. (The two lots closest to the Bandstand will be restricted to permitted vehicles. Non-permitted vehicles will be towed).
Dropoff near the Kalakaua & Kapahulu intersection prior to 5:00 am & the mountain side of Kuhio Avenue on Kapahulu Avenue after 5:00 am.
Special traffic controls will be in effect in the Waikiki, Ala Moana, Downtown, Kakaako, and Diamond Head areas.
Beginning at 3:00 a.m., all three lanes of Kalakaua Avenue between Kaiulani Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue will be closed for preparation of the Race.
